N1HZ - Can you describe a situation within the gaming world in which you have faced adversary?
I've definitely had my share of adversary haha, but I'm not sure what you mean. Something like leading a guild or group against another? I've led a number of groups. I used to help run a pretty good Ragnarok Online guild, and we did pretty well in War of Emperium. Getting the right members to fill the right roles was really the main problem. I had an ARK server I played on for a little while where we ended up against a pretty big faction, as well, and through what I will admit was probably luck, we took over all the things. I've never been the biggest in PVP. I've always been big on community building and social gaming.
I had a clan in a Minecraft server once, and we had a few real ... overzealous enemies. Have you ever had that? Where you can hardly play a game without spending the whole time avoiding a couple of people who just wanted to spend their day killing you? haha. I think they hated us because a few of my members were the top PVP'ers. But I'll be honest, it made it a lot of fun! I love a challenge. Having an enemy is a great way to put spice into a game. That said, I still tend towards community and social gaming, which is why I chose to run something like Children of Mann from the beginning. I'm not mechanically inclined, when it comes to PVP -- I don't have dem reflexes -- so that's what I go towards. I think CoE's going to be really cool for battles and fights from a leadership level, though. It'll be a lot of listening to your advisors and figuring out what'll be the best strategy for a given situation.
How about some of your experiences with handling Negative drama? Were the desired outcomes achieved? Why or why not?
Okay, so... I think this is probably the best example. I was many times an administrator on private Ragnarok servers. Mediating drama between guilds and between my team members and other things was pretty much 90% of my job. I often was able to get people to see eye-to-eye on things, but sometimes it's a fact of life that not everyone can be happy about everything; sometimes a person will never come to a compromise!
I had one group, who made up a good 10% of the server, threaten to leave. This was fine, we had a lot of players at the time, but it was really sad to see so many people wanting to go. Talking to the leaders, getting them to explain what their grievances were, took days. They had so many things to say, and there were so many of them to talk to. They complained about me, they complained about the other GM's, they complained about the other guilds, they accused us of cheating and selling pay to win items.
It eventually kinda blew up, because one of the other guilds was harassing them. I finally figured that out. Temporary bans was all it took to solve it. Things simmered down, and only a few people ended up quitting from the -other- guild. It was a win, but we lost a bit at the same time, which often happens. When you're dealing with large groups of people, it's inevitable. It might have gone better if I'd figured out the whole cause with the other side earlier, but honestly, they were just there to cause trouble and looking for a reason to leave. It's a much longer story, haha, but that's the gist!
I hope I answered your questions to your satisfaction! Thanks for your interest. :> Feel free to ask more~
