Who is Vaku?

I am Vaku, a life-long gamer in his mid-twenties who has indulged in a passion for both vast and niche MMO communities, and is now over two years in the transition of involving myself in growing the MEOW movement here among Elyrians.

Since 2016, I applied myself in the Chronicles of Elyria forums, and here are samples of my volunteer involvement with CoE content creation: Map Analysis, Tribe Analysis, Lore Content & Mechanic Synthesis. Tailored Event Promotion, Long-form Written Analysis of Mechanics, Engendering Life in the World of Elyria with Creative Writing—and I believe by the end of this you'll see, even greater and undeniable, content demonstrative of my qualifications to be an elected leader, here on Angelica (NA-W).

Prior to announcing for your support, I have been an early Count pledge and resident of Ashland, hosted by Duke Polite, of Sanctaphandri and King Sev Kimura. I believe my record can be described as being a meaningful contributor to hosting events and engaging in community management both within the Duchy of Sanctaphandri and Ashland, at large. I have volunteered my skill set, a total of three times, to facilitating mock domain selections to prepare our community for CoE’s launch, and in similar ways as I intend to prepare and enrich the new duchy community I’d be alloted through your donations.

I have served in these two years as a moderator for my immediate community, a community organizer, planning and participating in real-life Southern California get-togethers, making meaningful and life-long connections with players—making meaningful connections much in a way I believe SBS enjoys us complimenting their facilitation of a profound gaming experience.

A Sketch of your Unique & Choice Duchy

Previously, in promotion of my County, from my County pledge, you may view the sort of ideals of what it means to be a Vivectan and the opportunities that would arise in the county of Vivecta.

With your donations, I can enrich this vision from a count, to that of a duchy—a duchy replete county-communities that echo the merits of a state that wields encompassing value for Adventure, Fun, Strategy, Industry, Risk-Taking, and a Commerce built by and for the Daring.

As your candidate, I am in ambitious motion to leverage the authority you donate, to create a hub for high adventure. The vision you’ll see is neither nebulous, vague, nor unachievable, and following are the reasons why:

The infrastructure for the Duchy of Vivecta is built on a self-sustaining model that employs every possible outlet of play in CoE, to subsequently engender an outcome that delivers the most fun—and if the Return on Investment of what we do isn’t delivering on fun, we’re going to rework it until we get it right. Remember, I am veteran gamer, and through lens of this history, what I write about above is the essence it means to lead in a gamerly position—so, without further ado, let’s look at some finer details:

• An industry of creating and operating gauntlets is a cornerstone of the Vivectan economy. A gauntlet, in the terms of this game are quintessential dungeons built and operated by players, for the enjoyment of players. We can, yes, expect dungeons of sorts to already exist, like this Lost Vault, for which our current event is named, but as players, SBS offers us the opportunity to design and build our own elaborate dungeons. And these dungeons—these gauntlets, will be player-made, player-operated, and player-targeted hubs for testing and rewarding daring adventurers—exactly as you might expect Raiding the Lost Vault were to go down, were you playing in Elyria.

Formerly, a requirement I made of all my Vivectan Aristocrats to design and build a gauntlet, themed to their city and vision, I would extend this mandate across the entire Duchy of Vivecta—creating as a result dozens of hubs to beeline across the duchy and have an adventurous experience.

• It doesn’t stop there, following this mandate for Vivectan aristocrats to build gauntlets and to indulge this top-level ambition, our Vivectan city leaders, the whole duchy over, will endeavor to promote an economy sourcing the work of lumberers, miners, carpenters, masons, architects, trapsmiths, jewelers, and a whole host of industries to build, supply, and invigorate these attractions to their cities. Every avenue of labor, as a result is accessed, and with a cycle of adventurers coming experience the attraction, the action loop continues grow, and grow, and reward the community.

• Let’s just address this as a final and high-level point: a duchy does not rest on its bottom—as a leader to a duchy, I’d be required to serve in a military capacity to my kingdom, to meet and defend against threats both foreign and domestic. To appreciate the gravity of the onus it is to bear this on my shoulders, I would follow up my campaign to build a military force by approaching the adventuring community that find so much joy in testing their abilities in Vivectan gauntlets. Should our passer-bys elicit an ambition to also serve the duchy in a military capacity, he or she would be invited to do so.

Now, I can go on-and-on about the degree of planning I’ve spent on fleshing out my plans for our community story in Chronicles of Elyria, but I’m not here to test your patience, I’m here to prove I am a worthy contender for your donation.

A Brief Analysis on How our Duchy Jives

So, this is a brief analysis you’re very welcome to gloss over. As it stands, there are a cloud of unknowns, and with the burden of a duchy, over the county pledge I currently own, I’d be hard pressed to discern where our community may best fit.

As a consideration of players wondering where I would settle this duchy in the world at large, I have ranked choices preferred tribe placement on Map I.

My preferences are as follows:

K1: Hrothi, then Brudvir

K2: Hrothi, then Neran

K3: Waerd, Kypiq, then Neran

K4: Waerd, Dras, To’Resk, then Neran

K5: Dras, To’Resk, then Neran

K6: To’Resk and Janoa, tied.

Now, I obviously need to caveat, I do not know that after receiving this reward that I would be in the position to decide on where the duchy settles. I would be obliged to serve at the interest of SBS, and if it so happens, may be locked to a decision to necessarily of my own make—very much like we’ve been previewed with the CoE unique tavern promotions, and the previous Free Kingdom of Elyria event.

Now, there is a lot of vagaries to deal with, and with them, I am prepared to wrestle such that what it is you’re donating Ancient Coins for is what you’ll get. Maybe the gauntlet platform will face hiccups for residing in one biome over another. A cursory explanation of that strategy is to remain flexible in the vision for this duchy.

There is also the slim chance, that in announcing this platform, my candidacy could exceed the runner-up prize for a duchy, and may as a result be stuck with the Grand Prize—a sun stone. Big oof, right? Well, I don’t want to despair there in overshooting the goal. It is my position then, I want to be able to market myself as an eligible companion to an existing ducal authority and enter partnership there at a high level—provided that in making that far, the election will have in and of itself validated elements of the platform, simply by the nature that winning grand prize passes up the runner-up prize.

So, that’s part of the risk to the strategy that announcing a platform in this community has.

Gratitude to Duchy Residents

To duchy residents, I want to offer the assurance that the contributions you’re making are extremely high dollar amounts, registering at $10 increments at a time. In preparation of this thread, I’m already seeing hundreds of tokens being pledged. Now, it won’t be a guarantee that by pledging to me, you’re choosing to reside and play in the duchy, though if you so choose, I would be more than happy to discuss the merit of what your donations specifically can earn you, tailored to your donation and your preferences as a player.

Now as much as I’d like to recognize the merit it means hold an office of leadership, the tokens of authority in this event are measured with money. I am, as such being elected to a position I would not be able to hold without your donation of Ancient Coins—and therefore, I want to reach an agreement where the merit of your ambitions and skillset can match or be enhanced by the donation you make.

We’re talking then about gaining first dibs positions of prestige in the duchy—if you want, for instance, lead military engagements from the county and feel your donation echoes that role of community service, best left to forms of meritocracy, we can instead, maybe talk about or entertain ideas of your leader, or my financing and promotion of, mercenary bands, knightly orders, and so forth. Now that’s one example, and there are a lot of avenues to discuss, so, as a result, with making your donation, what is a pleasant way for me to recognize your contribution and maintain the forms of meritocracy that keep communities healthy.

Gratitude to Kingdom Residents, foreign to duchy

Read the above—to Kingdom residents, I want to offer tokens of gratitude in a similar vein. While not being a duchy resident, we don’t need to talk about the compromise of merit and being rewarded with prestige specific to the duchy, but we can, perhaps speak on details of increased partnership as a result of your support for my candidacy and my compulsion to echo gratitude for your action.

If for example, you’re leading a trade guild, we can speak about methods of how I can approach agreement guild’s vision and how in my position you helped me receive, that we can help promote one another.

Read the above—we can negotiate perhaps a closer bond with my duchy you help me receive with your donation, but to keep merit in the scopes, I want to preface that my default position would be to dedicate to your contribution, gauntlets—dungeons of sorts that I detailed before, that can echo a theme and challenge you feel deserving of your donation.

Now, I'm going to sidestep the complications that would arise out of supposing there are no duchies in my home kingdom willing to entertain that potential for partnership—I am going to, with certainty in my ability to negotiate and sell this vision, assume I can enter the better graces of one of those already in a position of authority.

I think partnering would be an incredible most would be willing to accept, I know that even without the duchy and just this sort of relic, I'd be surrounded by so many capable leaders I trust it would be alternatively completely fine to setup right where I've planned to setup all along, use the EP to fortify, embolden, and further grow our existing community of Vivecta within the auspices of Sanctaphandri, know it is a great place to be.

Then comes the game—someone else in the world has the runner-up prize, the accompanying combat style, and people will have to move around to ensure they access those sorts of secrets. I think the alternative of outright selling the duchy or any of the rewards would be a disingenuous angle to spend what is essentially would have been a massive support from all my donors.

It's the sort of thing tantamount to selling a Monarch pledge—these things are earned, they're intended to be used and color the shared narrative SBS and all of us are designing.

Specific plans for the Sunstone—it is, I suspect, unlike most relics found in design experiences, such that it is a relic that seems to have its power already described and sort of attuned with for use. As I understand it from previous discussions on relics from design experiences, players will be given their relic, clues, and a starting point to discover the full potential of their devices. That's crazy, incredible, and a flattering experience if that were still something we'd be able to undertake with the Sunstone. It'd be an experience I'd love to open the shutters so the whole of Elyria and all my donors will have the opportunity to view and enjoy—and as a result, truly live up to the associated title I'd be earning: The Luminary

ADDENDUM: I immediately got an order from my partner to clarify this point—I wouldn't be engaging to marry the duke/duchess, but merely enter a partnership where undertaking this position about which I was elected on is the foundation.

It's a working partnership to game and game hard.
